Before launching Strategy Blue, I held numerous public policy and leadership positions, working on a wide range of initiatives to further humankind’s stewardship of our natural world. For the majority of my career my focus has been on water management, however I have also worked on agricultural and climate policy issues. With experience at both the local and national level, I bring practical understanding and political savvy to my advice. I have held team and division leadership roles, including serving as an advisor to executive leaders and political decision-makers.

While I am currently based in my hometown of Seattle, USA, I have lived, worked or studied in ten countries across five world regions. This gives me a unique, global perspective, helping me apply international best practice to my work.
What I bring.
Environmental Expertise
With over 15 years studying and working in environmental policy, I bring depth of experience to analyzing and advising on natural resource issues.

In 2009, I started researching environmental policy challenges – with a focus on issues at the water-climate nexus. Following a master’s degree in Water Science, Policy and Management from the University of Oxford, I spent my early career working on national-level water and climate policy reform for the Government of New Zealand.
I have worked across a wide range of environmental policy topics including integrated management and watershed strategy, urban water and green infrastructure planning, water allocation and indigenous rights, agricultural water use policy, and national environmental strategy and policy implementation. I led numerous collaborative policy development initiatives that were recognized by senior government officials for their innovative approaches. Through these experiences, I honed my skills in complex system analysis and developing high-quality, data-driven policy advice products.

Strategic Leadership
Following early career accomplishments in environmental policy development, I moved into several team and division leadership roles, including serving as Head of the Office of the Chief Executive at the Ministry for the Environment in New Zealand. In these leadership roles, I honed my skills in facilitation, team-building, and developing organizational strategy.
I love working with groups to collaboratively set strategic goals and plan for how to achieve them. I use my experience as a people manager to design creative and engaging workshop experiences that draw on the individual strengths and diverse perspectives of the group.

Global perspective
I have conducted research and held professional appointments in Oceania, North America, MENA, Europe and Asia. With this background, I bring a unique global perspective to all of my work. I have a deep appreciation for the diversity of challenges and community needs related to managing environmental resources and related risks.

This breadth of global experience gives me an edge in anticipating solutions that are practical in a wide range of contexts. Whether it’s the characteristics of the natural, socio-economic or political environment, I am savvy in navigating the realities on the ground, and tailoring my contributions to specific community or organizational needs.
